Craft beer is still on the rise. The interest in authentic and unconventionally brewed beers from so-called “craft breweries” has been increasing for years now. This is why Meininger Verlag, the leading editor in drinks business communication, merits this category with the “International Craft Beer Award”. Its just in this competition that the Kundmüller brewery succeeded a lot this year. By far the best overall rating as well as ten medals won, therefore our Franconian family business is awarded as “National Craft Brewer of the Year”.

“Roland and Oswald Kundmüller have already shown what they could do in previous competitions; this time they convinced the jury with a total of 2 platinum, 6 gold and 2 silver medals for their Franconian beer specialities,“ says the publisher itself. The main focus is on the variety of awards. “We are particularly pleased that our classic par excellence, the Weiherer Lager, received the best rating at all. But we are also proud of the success of 3 collaboration brews and 2 beers brewed for loyal customers. Furthermore head brewer and executive director adds: “we are very proud of our staff, who works at its best every day. Without that fabulous team it would be impossible to reach such an award.”
A worthy platform
The “International Craft Beer Award” took place in Neustadt (suffix “at the German wine route”). “Over four days this year, our 45 beer experts tasted their way trough the great and diverse world of beer specialities to award only the best with a medal. They did thisacross all categories, so that this year, in addition to well-known international styles such as IPA or Porter and Stout, classic German and lighter beer styles such as Pils, Helles and Export were also awarded,” said Christian Wolf, the Tasting Director.
Thanks to a well-thought-out hygiene concept, the competition could even take place in times of a global pandemic. With this year´s award, the best beers were offered a worthy platform.
In the virtual award ceremony the certificates were symbolically handed over to the master brewers connected via video. The whole Weiherer team was online during the broadcast and celebrated this special award with all the winning beers, sausages and, of course, the minimum distance.
