Celebration at the Kundmüller Brewery: The Weiherer Summer Ale won silver at the European Beer Star 2021 awards ceremony on November 9 in Nuremberg.
"The European Beer Star has an excellent reputation in the international brewing industry. We are therefore even more proud that we were able to bring the silver award to Weiher with our Summer Ale. This award is not only a great confirmation of the work of our brewery team but also shows that our Summer Ale is one of the best beers in the world!" said owner and brewmaster Roland Kundmüller about the European Beer Star 2021.
In a two-day blind tasting in early November in Gräfelfing near Munich, around 130 international beer experts, including brewers, specialized journalists, beer sommeliers, and other beer experts, objectively evaluated the submitted beers based on appearance, foam, aroma, and taste, as well as style-typical characteristics. In the 70+1 categories of the beer competition, only the top three beers were awarded gold, silver, and bronze according to the Olympic principle. In total, 2395 beers from 44 countries around the globe competed in the European Beer Star 2021.
Stefan Stang, managing director of Private Brauereien Bayern e.V., is proud of this year's beer competition: "After a challenging year and a half for the entire international brewing industry, we are very pleased with such a strong response to the European Beer Star 2021. After a dip in registration numbers last year, we are now almost back to the record level of 2019. Even in challenging times, the European Beer Star stands as a symbol not only for craftsmanship and beer diversity but also for a sense of renewal in the industry," added Stang.
The silver award for the Kundmüller Brewery is certainly a clear symbol of outstanding beer quality. Owner Oswald Kundmüller proudly said, "An independent expert jury chose our beer among the best in the world. A recognition that our consumers will surely appreciate."
