Rain of medals for Weiherer beers

The rain of medals for Weiherer Bier does not stop. Once again, the Kundmüller brewery has won three awards at the European Beer Star. At the Drinktec trade fair in Munich, the team around owners Roland and Oswald Kundmüller received the Future Award, a prize for particularly sustainable business management, the gold medal for the Weiherer Summer Ale and bronze for the Weiherer/Cervejaria Bamberg Rauchbock. Shortly before, this had been awarded Germany's best smoked beer at the World Beer Awards - along with eight other medals for the Weiherer beers.

The whole team is happy about that, especially managing director Roland Kundmüller. "The fact that we have received numerous important international awards over the past few years shows how important the quality of our beers is to us." And brother Oswald Kundmüller continues: "We are very proud that we have won medals this year for beers that are not among the most classic beer styles. We live beer diversity. And that confirms us to continue on our way!“

A particular focus this year is the Future Award for exemplary and sustainable corporate management, which is being presented for the first time. In the spirit of the European Beer Star, in addition to "sustainable management, the sensory quality - i.e. appearance, smell, taste of the beers - is also included in the evaluation," says Stefan Stang, Managing Director of Private Brauereien Bayern e.V., about the newly created award.

"The Kundmüller brewery was one of the three breweries that was able to convince the final jury the most - both from the point of view of sustainability and product quality - and can therefore be pleased with the Future Award, which has been presented for the first time." so Stang continues.

A total of 2168 beers from 40 countries competed for one of the coveted awards at this year's edition of the renowned European Beer Star beer competition. Almost 140 international tasters, consisting of master brewers, specialist journalists, beer sommeliers and other beer experts, assessed the quality of the submitted beers in 73 categories on August 4th and 5th. Only the three best beers in each category are awarded gold, silver and bronze at the European Beer Star.
