Loud drums, confetti and Franconian beer provided the right vibes to dance away the rain in the Kundmüller brewery and country inn on the Brazil Day during the International Week celebrated in the district of Bamberg. A collaboration beer brewed with the Brazilian master brewer Alexandro Bazzo crowned the event.
Bazzo and the owners of the Kundmüller brewery, Roland and Oswald Kundmüller, have already joined their skills several times to brew a beer – as a sign of their friendship. The perfect basis for highlighting once again the district’s internationality which it promotes with a wide range of events. Since their taste for smoked beer unites both brewers, it was clear that it should play a major role again and they came up with the idea to brew a full-bodied, strong Imperial Stout with a special smoked malty note.
During the public brewing session, the visitors could see for themselves whether the beer, which will be available at the end of October, holds what its future name promises. "Zapfenduster" is the German word for pitch-black and stands for the color of the Imperial Stout, which was clearly recognizable in the brewing coppers. Together with the deputy county administrator Johann Pfister, Alexandre Bazzo and the Kundmüller brothers plucked fresh hops and added them to the wort. "A truly successful highlight of the day", stated Oswald Kundmüller.
In addition to the brewing session, a host of international activities rounded off the day. Senior owner Anni and her team prepared Brazilian Feijoada and Moqueca, not only to the liking of the guests from abroad. Cooper Werner Hofmann showed interested guests the Franconian craft of barrel making. And the 30-member samba ensemble Bateria Quem E set the atmosphere for dancing until late in the night.
