An incredible year ends with a triple award for our Weiherer classics. The Weiherer Bock (silver), Weiherer Rauch (bronze) and Weiherer Landbier (bronze) all made it onto the podium in their respective categories at the European Beer Star, which has been honouring the best beers in the world for 20 years.
At the awards ceremony in Nuremberg, our two managing directors Roland and Oswald were delighted to receive awards 30 to 32 for Weiherer beers in the outstanding year 2023. The European Beer Star is one of the biggest beer competitions in the world and the awards are highly coveted. This time, a 150-strong international jury of experts selected only the three best beers from 2,356 beers in 74 categories. Above all, unadulterated, characterful and high-quality beers are honoured. All breweries worldwide can take part: local, regional, national and international, not just from Europe, but from all countries on all continents. "Winning another three medals in this important competition here in Nuremberg puts the crown on the year 2023!" says Oswald, delighted with the new awards.
Weiherer beers collected a total of 32 awards this year. After 16 awards in the national finals of the World Beer Awards, including three titles as the best beer in Germany and the incredible world champion title for Weiherer Pils, another 12 awards followed in autumn at the "Finest Beer Selection". This made our brewery the brewery with by far the most awards out of 880 beers submitted from 18 countries. Now there are also the three European Beer Star Awards. Our Roland and the whole team are also delighted: "32 awards in one year is something that none of us dared to dream of, and of course it makes us incredibly proud as a regional family brewery. The award year comes just in time for our 2024 anniversary year: 150 years of the Kundmüller brewery, so we'll have double the reason to celebrate together with the beer fans of Weiher."
